Official 3x3 Basketball Rules

 

Court and ball

15x11 m. Or half a field 5x5. The ball is size 6 but with the weight of size 7.

Time outs

1  of 30 seconds per team.

Initial possession

Coin flip.

Score

1 point or 2 points if scored behind the three-point line.

Game duration and end of the game

10 minutes  or  21 points.

In case of overtime, the winner is the first team that scores  2 extra points.

Shot clock

12 seconds. Time starts with the check-ball or catching the ball by a player of the defending team after a basket, rebound, steal or block.

Foul in a shot attempt 

1 free throw and 2 free throws if foul commited in a three-point attempt. Claim rebound.

Group foul limit 

6. From the 7th-9th foul penalty 2 free throws and claiming rebounds. From the 10th foul penalty 2 free throws and ball possession.

Technical penalty

1 shot. The possesion does not change.

Unsportsmanlike conduct

2 shots. Charged as 2 team fouls. Ball possession does not change unless 10 or more fouls are completed.

Possession after basket

The defending team has the ball right underneath the hoop and must move it out of the three-point line with  dribble or  pass. The opposing team defends normally except the no charge semi-circle area underneath the basket.

ball to be dribbled or passed outside the three-point line.
